FAQs

1.        What is the standard student/teacher ratio?

All lessons are group lessons. For the Tot classes we limit the students to a maximum of 8 per teacher.  For the Youth classes it varies from 12-15, depending on the skating level.

2.       What should my child wear?

Tots (ages 3-5) should wear a warm coat, snow pants, gloves/mittens, and a warm hat or helmet. The first couple of lessons require sitting on the ice (learning how to fall down and get up). While not required, some beginners wear helmets as well. Older children can be comfortable with a sweatshirt or a warm coat and gloves or mittens. If you forgot to bring gloves or a coat, please ask rink personnel for loaners out of our lost and found.

3.       Do you rent skates at the rink?

Yes we do rent skates for our public Leisure Skate sessions, but skate rental is free with your skating lesson!

4.       What type of discounts do you offer?

For families with more than one skater, first child  pays full price, each additional family member will receive a $5 discount. Having a birthday? If you sign up for classes that are in your birthday month, we will give you a $10 discount!  Family and birthday discounts are not available in the same month.

5.        If I miss any lessons, do you pro-rate the sessions and is it possible to make-up missed classes?

As a general rule, we do not pro-rate or offer make-up sessions.  Submit a doctor's note and we will give you credit toward next month's signup.  (See skating director).
