FIGURE
SKATING AT THE MAC
The McDonald Center offers freestyle figure skating sessions that run
continually throughout the year. Please read the following figure skating
policies.
FIGURE SKATING POLICIES
These policies are designed to uphold the integrity of the sport of
figure skating and to maintain the overall cleanliness of the Harry J.
McDonald Memorial Center. The policies are for professionals, skaters, and
parents and we ask that you follow them for everyone’s benefit.
- Treat other skaters, parents, and professionals with respect. Control
your actions. Carelessness, language or disregard for others on or off the
ice is not acceptable.
- Clean up after yourself. This includes around the ice, the lobby, and
the bathrooms.
- Submit your sign-ups on a timely basis to ensure your place on a
session and to receive your pre-registration discount. Sign-ups received
after the pre-registration discount deadline (Friday before the first
day of the session) are due and payable in full without discount.
- All credits and non-payments for extra sessions must be settled prior
to the next session. Sign-up sheets will not be accepted, if these are not
done in advance.
- All doctor’s excuses for illness or injury must be received within
three days of skaters returning to skating. Doctor’s excuses received
after three skating days will not result in a credit. Credits will be
carried on the records until the next sign-up day. Credits will not be
available for use, if not used by the next sign-up day or if a written
request for cash refund has not been received by the next sign-up day.
- Ice time begins as scheduled and ends as scheduled barring unforeseen
problems. You are expected to follow the ice times on and off the ice as
all other users do. Skaters and/or professionals remaining on a completed
session five (5) minutes over will be charged for a full extra session of
use and will not necessarily be allowed to remain on the ice for the
complete session time.
- All professionals are required to provide a current certificate of
liability insurance naming Fire Lake Arena Management, Inc. dba Harry J. McDonald Memorial Center as additional
insured. The certificate is required whether the professional teaches at
Harry J. McDonald Memorial Center once a year or year round. The cost of
teaching on freestyle ice is $2 per 45 minute session.
- Repairs for damages to the McDonald Center due to negligence shall be
billed directly to the skater, parent or professional involved.
If necessary, the Harry J. McDonald Memorial Center will suspend
violators of policies regarding actions, language or negligence. A verbal
warning will be issued for violation of any pertinent policy. It is intended
that such a warning will deter future incidents. In the event of a second
incident, a three (3) day suspension will be imposed. A subsequent incident
will result in a 14 day suspension and a review by the manager of the Harry
J. McDonald Memorial Center before being allowed to resume skating or
teaching privileges.
No refund for fees paid will be given to skaters or professionals while
under suspension.
